  • STORY: First Prize US$2,000; ESSAY: First Prize US$2,000
  • The top two winners will also receive one-year gift certificates from co-sponsor, Duotrope (a US$50 value)
  • 10 Honourable Mentions will receive US$100 each (any category)
  • Top 12 entries published online

For this contest, a story is any short work of fiction, and an essay is any short work of nonfiction. Judge: Dennis Norris II, assisted by Lauren Singer Ledoux. Submit any number of entries. All themes accepted. Entries may be published or unpublished. Length limit: 6,000 words maximum. No restrictions on age or country. Contest entries close on April 30th. Please click the ‘Submittable’ button above for full details. Fee: US$20 per entry. Read the winning entries from the 26th contest. The results of this 27th annual contest will be announced on October 15th.
