Upping Our Game at Writing Retreats

The Write on the French River retreat in May 2018 will now be a partnership between the Lodge at Pine Cove and publishing house The New Quarterly

Other writing retreats in Ontario to note (assuming they repeat in 2018) are:-

Write Now Retreat in Stratford in October. This three-day memoir-writing retreat has been part of the Writers Festival of Stratford, and features daily lectures and one-on-one time with an instructor. It is held in two writing lounges, one by the Avon River, the other in the Shakespearean gardens.

Bright Harvest: A Weekend Writing Retreat in Southern Ontario by Firefly Creative Writing at Lake Simcoe in October. Two nights in an old manor house with ten other writers and two instructors.

Algonquin Fall Colours Writing Retreat by Quick Brown Fox’s Brian Henry in September at Arowhon Pines Resort in Algonquin Park .

Peele Island Book House Writing Retreat on Peelee Island in October. This week-long retreat, ‘Genre Writing: How Story Transcends Genre’, has been led by novelist/screenwriter Chuck Wendig.

Plus the Artscape Gibraltar Point located on Toronto Island hosts two types of artist residencies, self-directed and programmed, in a former school that is home to Toronto Artscape’s short-term studio/overnight accommodations. Here, writers, artists and creatives work in a self-directed fashion. Artscape is a not-for-profit urban development organization.
