Social Media for Authors

“The Internet and Social Media for Authors” with Angela Misri and Joyce Grant:-

The web can be the fastest way to find and engage our reading audience. If we’re pre-published, social media can help us build the community of readers that will buy our book, review it, and recommend it to their friends. And one of the first things agents and publishers will do when they’re evaluating us as a potential author, is check out our online presence.  If we’re already published—through a traditional publisher or self-published—social media can help us sell more books.

This session is all about focusing our time online to drive readership and book sales – from our author or illustrator website, to a Goodreads presence, to Wattpad, to tweeting!

Angela Misri is a YA author who spent 14 years as CBC Radio’s digital expert. She teaches digital journalism at Ryerson University and the University of Toronto. Joyce Grant is a picture book and middle-grade author. She has created award-winning marketing campaigns, ads and strategic marketing for corporations and formerly co-owned a small ad agency.
