Writers' Ink at Caledon Public Library

Four Million Bucks

Four million bucks, for a thirty second spot

It’s all about the haves, who cares for the nots?

Big coin tossed on ads-seems so obscene

Wasted on what could have been anybody’s dream.

My dream, your dream, his dream, her dream……

Companies cry of profit loss,

What’s that really mean?

Any kind of profit boy,

sure seems good to me.

Losses are what you don’t have,

Like Food or a place to live,

So us, the haves of humanity,

Must learn to share and give.

Governments, heads of states,

Religious orders too,

They all want to control everything,

Especially me and you.

This deception –so transparent,

I’m a bottle ready to burst…

Sick and tired of all the lies,

they keep fighting to be first.

One Earth, One world, that no one can ever own….

It’s here for us all to share, a place we call our home.

We are all human beings,

it’s  time to be humane,

respect for each other,

regardless of our names.

No-one owns this planet,

they fight for more control…

Love and peace are the answers,

it’s time now to enroll

Time to find  the balance,

let’s get back to basic needs,

Choose a simpler life

—rid ourselves of greed.

Greed is a poison,

it keeps you wanting more….

Wanting this, getting that

What do you need it for?

One Earth, One world, that no one can ever own….

It’s here for us all to share, a place we call our home.

Wake up all you people

the time is now at hand

Wake up all you people,

it’s time to make a stand

Stand up for your beliefs

Not what you’ve been told,

Let it come through your heart:

         Not what you’ve been sold.

Sharing this one planet, let’s help each other out

Celebrate our difference, that’s what life’s about.

It’s great to be different; we can’t be all the same?

No-one is better than another, regardless of your name.

Respect one another-listen to what they say….

It may not be your belief, does it matter anyway?

You have your own opinion-you also have a choice,

Instead of staying silent- why not use your voice

Caring for all people and all living things,

See the beauty, all the joy, the happiness it brings.

Spreading love and light, maybe it’s why we’re here,

Lose the drama, the cant’s and wont’s, there‘s nothing left to fear

Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up, wake  up,

Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up,  WAKE UP.
