Writers' Ink at Caledon Public Library

Haiku for Spring

Spring

We are Mercury

Passing in front of the Sun

Causing no dimness

Glimpsing your sad smile

Winter would not be so hard

Had there been no Spring

Speaking has always

Drowned chimes of rain drops falling

Too late, rain is gone

Grown small he shuffles

Backwards, bowing, out of life

Closes the door he built

by Hugh Marchand

April

In a fit of pique

Winter clings with icy claws

Invincible still

Spring

May, the libertine,

Sashays for our welcome eyes

Sepia hills give way

by Elaine Coish
