on the hunt
down the hole
through time
in the timelessness
of the hole in time
that she stands at the edge of
the huntress at the edge of
an abyss of deeps
down which abides the strange
obstreperous truth
the restless earth cradling
in its hibernatorial dreamings
the truth that floats behind us
that gazes with tenderness at
with silent eloquence at
with primal stink at
our autumnal longings for peace
that cannot be quenched inside
the endless multiplicity of things
the world soul outpouring itself
in form after form
always seeking singularity
and yet she stands with her bow
casually strung no quiver no arrows
on a barren field
the twiggish trees laying down
a calligraphy of incantations
and the hole beckoning her enter
descend grow happy with darkness
fish in the depths for elementals
follow the trail
of the Persephones of essence
to return the prodigal daughter
side by side with floating instinct
partners on the other side of despair
lifted out of the given-ness of time
bringing radiance of redemption
and the joy of what follows.
