Cafe Caledon is featuring Lori Oschefski of the British Home Children Advocacy & Research Association as its invited author on Wednesday May 6th. The mission of the BHCARA is to bring the true stories of the British Home Children to light, to maintain their memory and to reunite the families separated during the child migrant scheme. Ms Oschefski has authored a book “Bleating of the Lambs” about little known era when 10,000 migrant children being sent from 1869 out to Britain’s Oversea Dominions to live under what was essentially indentured childhood servitude. Like Ms Oschefski quite a few current residents of Caledon have a British Home Child in their ancestry. Cafe Caledon meets from 7.30 to 9 pm at St James Anglican in Caledon East on the first and third Wednesdays of each month.
